7 grams Dried Yeast Sachet
1 Teaspoon Sugar
3/4 cup Warm Water
2 Cups Flour
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
2 Tablespoon Olive Oil
3 Tablespoon plain Yoghurt
Extra flour for work surface
Olive Oil or Butter for brushing
Sesame Seeds (optional) for rolling
Mix the Yeast and Sugar with the warm water and allow to stand for 5mins. Ensure that the yeast activates (foams).
Sift the flour into a deep bowl and add salt, olive oil, yoghurt and yeast mixture.
Mix with machine or hands to form a smooth dough.
Place the dough in a dish ensuring to wipe oil all over the dough.
Cover with cling wrap and cloth then leave in a warm place to rise until double in size.
To make the Naan
Portion into about 8 balls.
Sprinkle flour on the work surface, flatten and roll each ball into round disks about 3mm thick.
Optionally sprinkle sesame seeds as you roll out the disks.
Cook the naan disks in a dry pan on a high heat for about 2-3 minutes on each side until bubbles form.
Flip the naan over with a spatula and cook until light brown spots appear.
Brush with olive oil, butter or garlic butter onto both sides of the naan before it is removed from the pan.
