Fish Frikadel
06 Main Fish - Fish Frikadel
1 Kilogram Hake or white Fish
1 Teaspoon Salt
3 - 4 slices Bread (Brown is preferred)
200ml Water (enough to soak the bread)
1 Onion chopped finely
1 or 2 Green Chillis chopped fine
1 Egg
1 Cup fresh Parsley
1 Teaspoon Paprika or fine black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Lemon Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon Dhana Jeero (Optional)
1/4 Cup Olive Oil for frying
Fish Preparation
Wash and debone the fish.
Cut the fish into cubes then steam or cook in boiling water until done.
Allow to cool then carefully flake the fish ensuring that no bones are left.
Making the frikadels
Mix all the remaining ingredients with the fish then add the mashed bread and mix well.
Soak the bread in water to soften. Lightly squeeze excess water and mash the bread then add to the fish mixture.
Add breadcrumbs if the mixture is too moist.
Form balls slightly larger than the size of a golf ball then flatten into discs.
Optionally dip the breadcrumbs in beaten egg and coat with breadcrumbs.
Fry in very shallow olive oil on medium - high heat.
Server with Mayo or other sauce.
