Chicken Dahl
06 Main Chicken - Chicken Dahl
1 Cup Twer Dahl
4 Cup Water
1 Chicken cut, wash & drain
2 Onion chopped very fine
1 Tomato or 1/2 Cup Tomato Passata
1 Teaspoon ground Ginger paste
1 Teaspoon ground Garlic paste
1 Teaspoon Red Chilli powder or ground Red Chilli
1 Teaspoon Cumin powder
1 Teaspoon Coriander powder
1/2 level Teaspoon Turmeric
1 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Cup boiling Water
1 /4 Teaspoon Garam Masala
Preparation
Boil the Dahl with 4 cups water and 1/4 onion for about 1-2 hours until soft.
After the dahl is cooked, whisk then pass through colander or sieve.
If using fresh tomato, liquidise and cook until reduced by a third.
Curry
Braise onion until golden brown then add ginger and garlic and spices.
Add the chicken and cook for about 10 minutes then add tomatoes.
Cook for a few minutes, then add about 1/2 cup of boiling water depending on how you want the curry.
A good guide that the curry is ready is if oil appears on the surface.
When the curry is ready add the dahl and cook for 10 mins.
Garnish with chopped green coriander and sprinkle Garam masala.
